That's right my friends, we are at it again in the studio!! Bruce and I are currently holed up in a beautiful little studio in Van Nuys writing and recording our latest EP. We are going back to our Arkansas roots and using lots of acoustic instruments to capture a little "california country" feel. We even had a pedal steel player come by to lay some tracks last week. Things are sounding great, we'll post new songs as soon as we get them done!
That's right, you can download my new EP for free!! Tell your friends!!
We played the majority of our 2012 shows in our new stripped-down acoustic format and felt it was high-time we released something with this lineup. So I took the boys to Bonedaddy Studios in Los Angeles and we laid down 5 of my favorite tracks. We're calling it "The Dizzy Sessions", and I hope you love it as much as I do! Featuring Bruce Lawrence on acoustic guitar and bass, and Will Phillips on his amazing hybrid percussion kit.

Happy to announce that we will continue our Thursday night residency at The Shore in Hermosa Beach, CA for the months of August and September. We've been seeing GREAT crowds every week, and my thanks goes out to all my supporters in the South Bay, you guys are amazing! I'll be playing 9 - 11:30 each week and will be joined as usual by the amazing Bruce Lawrence on guitar, Chris Schleike on bass, and Will Phillips on percussion. Check my FB page to see who our weekly "special guest" will be!
This is pretty awesome -- I was asked to audition for a new TV pilot called American Coffeehouse. It's an 'American Idol" style reality show that showcases original singer-songwriters. I took Will down to play percussion with me and we killed it!! They loved us and we were selected for the pilot episode! The show is currently getting pitched to ABC and FOX. I'll let you know when it makes it to the airwaves!!!
Check out the latest live videos here. I took Bruce Lawrence (guitar) and Will Phillips (percussion) out to one of my favorite studios here in LA and performed a live set for a select group of fans and friends. We had a blast and you can too!! Post the links on your FB page, send them on to your friends ..... thanks!!
Sorry to have neglected the blog for so long!! I am back online and promise to keep you all better updated. Lots of fun things coming up this year, hope you can make it to a show when you can!! I'm at the Shore in Hermosa Beach every Thursday night in July. I'll have special local guests joining me onstage as well as the impeccable Will Tompkins on percussion. (see calendar for details).
Ever wonder what the story is behind a song? We are excited to present a new series of 'StoryTeller'-style videos of Jared ... up-close, unplugged, and unscripted!
Veteran producer/editor Tonya Stumphauzer and director Stephen Readmond recently spent a day with Jared in the studio and asked him to give a little insight behind some of the songs on his new record.
Jared talks about the making of the new album and the songwriting process, giving a unique glimpse into the stories and passion behind his songs.
Jared's latest CD, Several Shots at Redemption, is now available exclusively through his website! Visit the Albums page for details and purchasing information.
IndieMusicStop.com describes the new album as "powerful, passionate, crisp" and says it "will appeal to fans of artists like Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, and Coldplay."
It was standing-room only for Jared Young's album release party at Saint Rocke, one of L.A.’s hottest new music venues. Young's new album, Several Shots At Redemption, was released April 9th and his fans showed up in force for the debut at the Hermosa Beach club. "It was an amazing night," Young said, "and it was very special for me to celebrate with my hometown crowd."
Young opened the show with "It's Alright, It's Over", the first track on his new record, and he kept the high-energy crowd on their feet for the entire 90 minute set. Young had previously released a few sneak-peek songs from the new album on his website, so many of his fans were singing along to songs like "People R Strange", "Good Things, Bad People", and "Summer Rain". Young also played songs from his 2006 record So Many Miles, including the contagious "Dizzy and Unreliable" and "In This Day and Age".
One fan, Billy Mazzie, remarked about the show, “The show was great. Jared’s music can be summed up in one word -- infectious!”
